Find the cause before choosing a repair

A tripping device can have several causes, including an appliance fault or a problem with fixed wiring. We use inspection and testing to investigate, explain what we find and agree the next step.

Useful information before a visit

Tell us which circuits are affected, when the fault started and whether it happens when particular equipment is used. Photos of the consumer unit with its cover in place can help us prepare.

If the situation appears unsafe

If there is smoke, burning, sparking or exposed live parts, keep clear and do not keep resetting the circuit. Isolate the supply only if it is safe to do so. In an immediate emergency, call the emergency services.
